Product Deep Dive
Everything you need to know about how care tasks work, from concept to results.
What is a care task?
A care task is an automated outreach to a patient on a specific clinical or administrative topic. It is entirely automated using conversational AI.
It is designed to collect the same information a clinician would normally gather during follow-up—without requiring clinician time.
Care tasks engage patients by SMS and can be:
Conversational (guided back-and-forth)
Assessments (structured questions)
Each care task is focused on a specific clinical goal and persists until it is completed, retrying appropriately if a patient doesn't respond.

Triggered care tasks
Some care tasks are triggered automatically based on clinical guidelines, evidence-based literature, and patient data in the EHR—such as preventive screenings, condition check-ins when data suggests poor control, or outreach to patients lost to follow-up.
Each patient's data is evaluated against care task criteria. Tasks are scheduled only when inclusion criteria are met.
Provider-selected care tasks
Providers can also select care tasks to run for specific needs, such as lab follow-ups before a visit, treatment response or side-effect checks, patient education, or condition-specific monitoring.
All care tasks are scheduled and paced by the system.
Outreach does not happen immediately and is prioritized based on patient context so patients aren't overwhelmed.

What you get back
Care tasks return structured clinical summaries at the point of care.
These summaries:
Appear alongside patient data in the clinical workflow
Provide visibility into what's happening between visits
Capture documented clinical information at a higher frequency than visits alone
Clinicians review summaries, interpret the information, and take action when appropriate.
That documented work can support care delivery and create opportunities for additional revenue when providers review and act.
Practices typically start seeing clinical summaries shortly after patients start enrolling.
